Hi. I am Peter Hughes. I grew up on Oahu and became an avid surfer as a teenager. I attended high school in Honolulu and San Francisco. In 1969 I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Liberal Arts Business degree. During the next 10 years, I thoroughly enjoyed the sport of surfing and cultivated honey from the 400 beehives that I kept.

I married my wife Suen in 1974, and in 1980 our first child, Meriel Hughes, was born. Our son Brian was born in 1984, and both are now adults with successful careers of their own.

I started selling real estate with Tracy Lewis Realtors in 1983, and worked as an agent with Mio Realty from 1985 to 2005. I have been a Realtor / Broker for Island Trust Properties with Gary Petrison as my Principal Broker for the past 2 years.

These days, I enjoy swimming on a daily basis, walking my dog Cleo, and surfing good waves from time to time at Bayfront, a local surf spot.

Having been around as long as I have, I have gotten to know every nook and cranny of Hilo and the surrounding areas, including Puna, Ka'u and the Hamakua Coast. I specialize in residential sales, as well as commercial leasing and sales. Come to think of it, I do a fair amount of business with vacant land too. I do it all, every day. I enjoy nothing more than meeting people and helping them find exactly what they need.
